Driving pleasure does not mean just be the fastest. Changing gears is also a great feeling, on great shift knobs, like Honda or subaru. As well as not everybody is interested in winning all the straight light races, some prefer a good control in a great secondary road full of turns, or drifting.... So, sure dsg is a great piece of mechanic. But not the best. Especially with the gasoline engines, like gti and R, when the sound of the changing gears at the exhaust is like farts. Horrible.

yeeah I gotta agree with the rest of the comment section, FWD hot hatches have not sucked for years. All of the biggest players use clever diffs etc. BUT there is one thing that the Golf GTI does much better than the competition... Boredom. That's right I said it, YA BORRIING. I can feel the fanboys coming to comment that "duuude put a tune on it and exhaust and it'll be great duude" "bro my GTI has 350hp and it shits on stock civics" etc etc

I predict those systems are going to break within a decade or two naturally and before that time VW will not supply those parts anymore and if they do it'll be insanely expensive and they wont let anyone else make replacement parts for that VAQ system.

8ms shift times are near impossible (soz). 👎🏻 It's probably the gear engagement time of the DSG transmission, or how long it takes for the shift fork to select the next gear. Actual shift times for the VW DSG are likely still quicker than an Enzo though, which is rad.

For an example of how fast dual clutches are, take the 2020 911 Carrera S The PDK (Porsche dual clutch) does 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds The 7-speed manual, though, does it in 0.5-0.7 seconds slower on average.

this vid is full off lies.... the limited slip diff only limits slip on the right wheel on full throttle the steering still pulls. by opening and closing the clutch it gives more or less power too the left front wheel the right wheel can only be lower or equal too the left wheel power output. when turning the power that normally would hit left front gets 40% split too the right front because of the clutch. this system is still lower tier off limited slip > mechanical will out perform it with the loss of comfort this is why we get electronic diff wider range off use. F1 cars change gears in 10-15 milliseconds this gearbox does not change that fast AT ALL. *This is an impossibly fast claim which is widely seen on the internet. This could refer to the gear engagement time of the DCT transmission, which would be the time it takes for the shift fork to select the next requested gear. Actual Up-shift time for the VW DSG and PDK may be closer to 200ms. < this is correct.

3:52 there was a version of the Fiat Palio Weekend sold in Brazil that had a locking differetial while being FWD, its name was Palio Adventure Locker. But as the name suggests, the locking differential was only meant for light off-road applications and couldn't be used above a certain speed.

The new (2019 and up) GLI shares all these same internal goodies with a slightly longer (more stable) wheelbase. So if you prefer a trunk to a hatchback you can get this same driving experience in a sedan variation. The VAQ system in conjunction with the DCC system makes these cars very fun and exciting to drive at any speed. With these systems these cars corner like no other.
